As women we play many different roles and are constantly on the move.
Our lives are filled with tasks and expectations that can sometimes leave us feeling depleted and emotionally drained! Finding ways to decompress and reset can be a challenge, however it is necessary in the way we take care of our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. As we strive to build our businesses, take care of our families, and be there for those people who need us, we must not forget about ourselves!
Don’t forget you!
Making a conscious effort to incorporate self-care, reflection, and rest into our daily lives is an essential part of staying connected to our authentic self. One of the ways we can achieve this is through mindfulness. Mindfulness is a practice that encourages us to pay attention to the present.
John Kabat Zinn, defines mindfulness as “The awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to the unfolding of experience moment by moment”.
Through this awareness we are able to notice our experiences in a deeper way and direct our attention to the present moment. This practice can be a stress reliever and helps to eliminate thoughts of the past as well as the future.
Sometimes we become so caught up in our work and life for that matter we feel out of sorts or out of balance. We have to remind ourselves we are capable of making those emotional shifts! There are ways to restore our mind and body using simple techniques.
I hope mindfulness can start that process for you!
Ladies, we must allow ourselves to take a moment throughout our day to take a pause and conduct an internal check in. Be gentle with yourselves and remember to take the time you need for rejuvenation.
It can be a few minutes out of your day to do a deep breathing exercise, go for a nature walk, stretch…
I know this is easier said than done. However, I hope you can at least try to do something nice for yourself each day that will fill your soul with the goodness it deserves!
