Emily was born and raised in Raleigh, surrounded by creative, strong and independent southern women. At the end the end of 2016, after much encouragement from family and close friends, she began to make her artwork public. As a self-proclaimed “professional introvert” this wasn’t easy, but she says she never looked back. Emily has branded herself using her first and middle name “Emily Anne” after her grandmother (the original), who was the driving force behind all of those women mentioned above. Her work is inspired by different color relationships, odd shapes, gestural lines, and negative space. Emily looks for balance and harmony, without appearing too contrived. She work mainly in acrylic, with gouache, soft and oil pastel.
