Meet the Teacher

LaPronda is the Principal and Chief Visionary Architect of Lain Consulting LLC, an award winning, full service consulting firm specializing in diversity certification support services, supplier growth planning, program development and government contracting. Since 2012, LaPronda has been responsible for the successful procurement of $2.2 million in grants and contracts from public and private foundations, local and state government for local and regional clients as well as Lain Consulting.

Lain Consulting is certified as a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) with the Small Business Administration (SBA); Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) with the NC Department of Transportation (DOT); Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) with the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County; A Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) with the Statewide Uniform Certification Program of NC; a Small Professional Services Firm (SPSF) with the NC DOT; and a Section 3 Business Concern with the Charlotte Housing Authority. Lain Consulting is also listed as a federal contracting consultant with the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).

Lain Consulting received the 2016 Rising Star Award from the Women’s Business Center of North Carolina, an SBA Program. In 2014, the company was selected as the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) of the Year by the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County at its Crowns of Enterprise Awards Ceremony.

In addition to this, LaPronda currently serves as the Moderator for County Commissioner Vilma D. Leake’s new Global Wealth Exchange and is the former Moderator of Commissioner Leake’s Small Business Consortium. She also serves as an Instructor for the Government Contracting Series at Central Piedmont Community College’s Small Business Center and Carolina Small Business Development Fund’s Inclusion Procurement Program. In 2019, LaPronda served as a Steering Committee Member for the 2019 Black Enterprise FWD Conference and as an Ambassador for the 2018 Black Enterprise Entrepreneur’s Summit.

LaPronda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Johnson C. Smith University and a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion/Disease Prevention from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.[elfsight_instagram_feed id=”1″]
