Amplify Her Voice: Shassity Stevenson

KNOW Book + Tribe kicked off a brand new series called Amplify Her Voice. It is a storytelling series focused on amplifying the voices of our Black female business leaders and members. Each day we will be featuring one new KNOW member and they will be sharing their stories and advice.

Meet Shassity Stevenson, Entrepreneur behind ShassityStyles

Shassity has her hands full running three businesses. She is the face behind Shassity Styles, owner of Sky Salons and the creator of the Curly Littles Campaign. Before all of this was created, she was on the path to medical school. Once she realized that industry wasn’t her passion, she pivoted to find a career in the beauty industry  she knew she would enjoy.

Takeaways from Shassity:

1. What is The Curly Littles Campaign? “The Curly Littles Campaign is an online community, a hairstyling community for parents of kids with curly hair.Learn more about Curly Littles Campaign HERE!

2. Shassity’s goal with Curly Littles Campaign.  “I strongly believe that if I can create more confidence in parents in what they’re doing, then that confidence transfers to their children. And we all know how much hair plays a role in someone’s self esteem and self image. So that is my goal, is creating a safe space so that these parents are able to make their children feel as though there’s nothing they can’t do..”

3. Her advice to other women. ” [To] anyone that is afraid to make that big jump, is looking for the confirmation they need to go and pursue that idea that they’ve been sitting on for awhile, is embrace the journey. Staying true and authentic to yourself, to your dreams is super important and making sure that you’re focused on getting it done.”

What Shassity Loves about being a KNOW member: “I love the idea of a community of women where you can connect and support one another. Not only local, but also internationally. I think that it’s comforting to know that no matter where I am, no matter what kind of question I may have, or resources I need access to, that I can find that in KNOW Tribe. I love the idea that we can have open and honest conversations. I feel like there’s no better time than now, but to know that this is something that I’ve done with several KNOW Tribe sisters before the current state of events, things that are going on in the world.
